Economic Stimulus Packages are really not that stimulating!
The conversation about the economy having gone to hell in a hand basket (right next to the newly fried foods and the no nourishment dietary foods that make you fat) is pretty much settled and we no longer need to debate if the Age of Change has arrived now. The facts are in. It is and it has. We have made History! Good for us! We, as the American Nation, have finally proven that we can accept a male despite of his background and color and put him in charge. We have shown that we are not all KKK Members and have finally gotten over the racism that supposedly only white people are known for. Hurray for us!!!
Now, with those two very important issues out of hand, I would like to post a couple of questions about these Stimulus Packages, Stimulus Checks, Stimulus anythings. You see I am not a politician or elected official, I have not studied economics or social political behavior in the 21st Century. I don’t hold any fancy degrees, but I do go grocery shopping every week. I am responsible in my household for filing the Taxes, for paying the Bills and for trying to make a Budget that works. I guess you could say, I have a degree by now in illusionary magic (I got very good at making it appear as if everything is fine around here and we are not tight), family budgets (you know you can’t spend more then you actually have liquid) and democracy. Don’t believe me, you tell my husband when he can’t buy something he really wants or show him that yes honey those bills are covered, but you need to let me do it this way please.
Now I have largely stopped watching the news because not only is it depressing, but it is well no longer the NEWS. But I have caught some more talk about a Stimulus Package that will help Bail more big Companies out again. So let me get this straight.
We the Tax Payers are going to give more money to Companies who were too busy giving their CEO’s Millions of Dollars in Bonuses, private Airplanes for the Companies and goodness knows what other perks, to watch their Accounting? Which ironically never quiet seems to pay off enough to give the actual workers, the small people enough money to even make ends meet. Oh I know there are some good paying jobs, but in the end most of them did not pay the bills at home.
Oh and the Stimulus Checks the Tax Payers were supposed to get were neatly cut down to almost nothing last time, weren’t they. I don’t see that working any better this time. If you were lucky enough to be among those that got them…yeah good for you. However, strangely enough more and more rules came along last time (and yes they made them up as they went) to cut most of the working population out. So thanks again, could someone please pass the KY Jelly now, because it is getting a bit irritated.
How about giving companies that deserve the help a hand up instead? Call me old fashioned, but what about a stimulus check for Mom and Pop Stores who did not only have to fight those Giants that are now slowly falling, but can barely stand period? What about a Stimulus Check for the Stay at Home Mom’s who are working hard out of their homes just to make ends meet? How about something that doesn’t screw our elderly people over on each end and please what about actually forcing the Banks to generate some loans so the rest of us don’t sink completely? Just a thought, nothing original!
